Supreme Quashes Neet

The suspense on National Elegibility and Entrance Test (NEET) ended today to the relief of many Medical students in the State. The Medical Council of India (MCI) earlier gave notification to all medical and dental colleges under the Government and Private management to admit students for under graduate and post graduate courses on qualifying in NEET. This notification of MCI was challenged by private medical dental colleges in the Supreme Court charging that MCI has no authority on it.

The Bench of the Chief Justice Justice Altamas Kabir and Justice Vikramjit Sen observed that MCI has no authority to take such a decision and impose on all Government and Private Medical and Dental Institutions to admit students on qualifying from NEET.

The Supreme Courted asked the Medical and Dental Colleges to go on with the old procedure to admit the students.

As the nationwide NEET is squashed, again Eamcet assumed importance decision of which is welcomed by the State Medical Education Minister Kondru Murali.
