An announcement was made by the Passport Authorities long back to make the issuance of the Passport easy and devoid of long queues and yes, it was implemented.  

Now to make it easier, fill your form on line and pay the required fee.  You will be allotted a day and the time to meet the Passport office concerned officers which action will save a long wait in the queues.  Tatkal Passport service is restricted to Hyderabad office only.  

The announcement now has become a reality with a trial at Visakhapatnam Zone.  If everything works out alright, it will be extended to other places as well and the credit goes to External Affairs for streamlining the system of issuing passports.

As the Passport Officers claim, a person can have a passport in 10 days flat with this facility.  Let us see how far the Vizag zone fares well in its endeavor and what lessons it learns to address those problems at other places in the State.
