Annamayya celebrations

605th birthday celebrations of Annamacharya were performed at Vijayawada.  The statue of Annamayya was taken out in the procession from Vijayawada TTD Kalyana Mandapam to Venkateswara Temple in Labbipeta.

On the way, children danced to the tunes of Annamacharya songs.  Many devotees and music lovers participated in the procession.

Tallapaka Annamacharya who was born on 9th May 1408 was a famous musician of those times who composed 32000 songs in Telugu on Lord Venkateswara which are called Sankeerthanams.  After the hidden Sankeerthanams came to light, TTD created Annamacharya project to popularize the songs which are full of devotion, written in pure Telugu and all of them are in praise of Tirupati Venkateswara Swamy.

TTD instigated research, publication and recording of the Annamacharya songs through Annamacharya Project established in 1978.
