The ghastly incident that was the headlines in most media today, was instantly followed up by alert police men who arrested the two miscreants involved in the incident. A couple was attacked by two men while on a visit to Bhavanapadu beach in Srikakulam district, on Sunday. Initially the two were disturbing the lovers and later they overpowered the youth and  tied the boy. In front of the boy they caught hold of his lover and tried to undress the girl.  A pathetic, inhuman act by the miscreants was foiled by some villagers who heard the voice of the wailing girl. As the villagers came to their rescue, the miscreants fled the scene.

The villagers took the lovers to the nearby police station and helped them register a complaint. The police immediately sprang into action and set out on hunting the savage beasts.

Police said K Ravi and A Doorvasulu were the two men and they were arrested today after an inquiry by the Bhavanapadu Revenue Officer. The arrested were charged under section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), by the Naupada Police.
