Unauthorized occupants evacuated amidst protests

Government authorities in the early hours of the day evacuated unauthorized occupants of the Bandlaguda area on the outskirts of the city. Authorities well equipped entered the area, told residents to move out of their houses, and started demolishing the hutments. The occupants were irate over the sudden action of the authorities. They lamented that the government instead showing the hard stick on the elite who have usurped acres of land, was showing it on the weak.

The residents also wailed that for the past thirty years `this was their homes.’ They added that they have spent hard-earned money to build houses and even paid taxes for the said land. This sudden action has made them homeless.

`The action of the government on poor people like us, is firmly protested,’ say some. While others say `what can a poor man do, to resist government forces.’ The entire area was tensed with the incident. Residents also said that the government took up action even without giving caution.

On the other hand, authorities claim that the lands belong to the government. They had cautioned the people living in the area since sometime. A couple of month’s back even notices were issued to them. Since there was no response for the same, action was necessitated, says Hyderabad RDO. However many politicians who sympathized with the residents, slammed the government for its careless action. (With inputs from internet- AW AarKay)
