Jagan shifted to CBI office

The Central Bureau of Investigation sleuths have taken the YSR Congress president and the prime accused in illegal assets case, Jaganmohan Reddy into their custody, as the High Court of AP on Friday nodded for CBI’s plea of extending Jagan’s CBI custody.  Jagan was shifted to CBI office in Koti area of Hyderabad from Chalchalguda jail for questioning. The sources said that CBI earlier wanted to question Jagan through video conference.

YS Jaganmohan Reddy alias Jagan is named accused number one in the charge sheet that CBI filed in connection with illegal assets case. The CBI Court, which accepted the charge sheet, summoned Jagan and others to appear before court on May 28. Three days before that Jagan was called in by CBI for giving clarifications. On day one of questioning—May 25 Jagan came out of Dilkusha Guest House smiling and said he gave clarifications and he would come the next day to give some more clarifications. On May 26, the same thing repeated. And on May 27, tension prevailed among YSR Congress party activists when CBI JD Lakshminarayana came out of Dilkusha Guest House after 6. 30 PM and Jagan was still in. Minutes later, Vijayamma along with her family members arrived at the place and CBI clarified that Jagan was arrested.

Even if Jagan was not arrested on May 27, he would have probably been sent to judicial remand the next day. In fact, the same happened. The CBI produced Jagan before CBI Court on May 28 and sought his custody. But, CBI Court turned down the plea of CBI and sent Jagan for 14 days judicial remand, which would conclude on June 11.

The CBI, which wanted to take Jagan into custody, approached the High Court and the Court accepted their plea last Saturday and permitted CBI to take Jagan into custody for five days starting from Sunday. His CBI custody was concluded on Thursday and CBI approached High Court on Friday for extension of Jagan custody. The court said Jagan can be taken into custody for another two days.
