Court summons Jagan

The CBI Special Court that’s trying Jagan disproportionate case has served summons on Kadapa MP and accused number one in the case, Y S Jaganmohan Reddy. The summon directed Jaganmohan Reddy to appear before the court on May 28 in relation with the case. Jagan happens to be one among the 13 accused who received court summons. The trials in the case would commence from May 28.

Meanwhile, the court has directed CBI sleuths to ensure that all those people on whom it had served summons appear before the court of law on the said date.

It may be recalled that CBI, which is probing Jagan illegal assets case, filed its first charge sheet on March 31 and named 13 individuals as accused. Accepting the charge sheet, the court summoned the accused within two months. While accused number two, auditor Vijayasai Reddy was arrested multiple times followed by release on bail, another accused B P Acharya, who is a senior IAS officer is already in judicial remand in connection with Emmar scam.

The first appearance on May 28 is called accused appearance wherein its mandatory for all the accused to appear before the court failing which an arrest warrant will be issued so that police arrests the accused and produce them in the court.  Nevertheless, the accused can file petition seeking to appear later only in emergency situation. In the wake of by-polls, what Jagan will do has become a million dollar question. (Phani)
