Kadapa district police today seized red sandalwood worth Rs.50 lakh and arrested three smugglers who were transporting it illegally.
On a tip off, a special team of police officials kept vigil on the smugglers in the Badvel town and arrested them this afternoon. The police also confiscated the goods auto in which the rare wood was being transported.
Police said they have arrested three persons belonging to the village Boyinapalli in Badvel Mandalam. This is third time that the police had confiscated illegal red sandalwood in the state in the last fortnight. (J)
