‘Saving Face’ gets first Oscar award for Pak in documentaries

Like an Iranian film which won the first Oscar for the country, a Pakistani documentary film too won the first Oscar award for the embattled country which is in a spat with the US over steps to dismantle terrorism from its soil.

The short film Saving Face, directed by Daniel Junge and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, deals with the story of a woman who fights for the prosecution of criminals who have perpetrated acid attacks on people for various reasons.

The short film gets the inspiration from the famed British plastic surgeon Dr. Mohammad Jawad who returns to Pakistan to help the victims of acid attacks.
