Sena-BJP combine rests largest chunk of seats

Siva Sena-BJP-RPI combine Bagging 106 seats in the country’s richest municipal corporation, the Siva Sena-BJP-RPI combine today emerged as the biggest victorious combination in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections. The corporation has a total strength of 227-seats.

Falling short by 8 seats to attain the simple majority of 114 seats, the alliance may seek the support of independents to get the Mayoral post and rule the Mumbai city.

At the end of counting for the just concluded municipal polls, officials said Siva Sena won 75 seats, BJP 30 seats and RPI 1 seat. While the congress won 48 seats, its alliance partner NCP bagged a mere 18 seats and the new outfit MNS promoted by Raj Thackeray won 28 seats.
However, independents won in 27 wards and are likely to play key role in the Mayoral election.

The incumbent Mayor of Mumbai, Shradha Jadhav, retained her seat. (JUBS)
