Tainted IAS officer BP Acharya tried to invoke the blessings of the Lord Hanuman on the day he was arrested in the APIIC-Emaar land scam.

Reports said CBI officials had handed over a copy of the arrest report to Acharya when he was arrested and he kept the copy in a plastic folder containing prominently the picture of Lord Hanuman showing Lord Rama and Sita in his heart.

When he was produced before the court and arguments were going on, Acharya held the folder in such a way it would attract the attention of the special judge Mr Nagamaruthi Sarma. In fact no one knows whether the judge had seen the photo or not.

However, when the judge told the CBI that he was sending Acharya to its custody till the evening hours of Feb 1, Acharya, raising the plastic folder up to show the Lord Hanuman picture to the judge prominently, prayed with folded hands and said, “Sir, kindly believe me, I have not made any mistake. Suspension will follow me if I am kept in the police custody for more than one day. I request you to show compassion to me.”

Now, everyone was sure the learned judge must have seen the photo of Lord Hanuman as he told the accused, “Don’t worry. If you have not made any mistake, God will surely protect you.”

All this drama was prominently watched by Acharya’s wife and IAS officer Ms. Ranjeev Acharya, and son Mr K.C. Acharya.

We are now sure Acharya will be suspended by the Government as he was sent for custody of 48 hours to the CBI. However, we will have to wait for some more days to know whether Lord Hanuman, the God of Purity, will ultimately protect the IAS officer who he said had not committed any mistake. (JUBS)
