Bull fight, bizarre sounds haunt Vemulawada, Kanipakam temples

Two bulls created a flutter at the famous Sri Rajarajeswara temple at Vemulawada in Karimnagar district this morning by fighting each other at the main entrance.

The hour long bull fight made the panicky devotees run helter-skelter for safety resulting in a stampede. While a dozen devotees were injured in the stampede, some shops and vehicles at the entrance of the temple were destroyed.

There was a flood of devotees at the temple on account of Radhasaptami (festival of sun god) and suddenly two bulls appeared from nowhere at the main entrance of the temple and began fighting creating terror.

Police tried to control the bull fight and restore order at the temple but without success.  At last, after one hour of fierce fight, the bulls also looked tired and the police and some locals could bring them to their senses.

Bizarre sounds from Kanipakam Hundi

While the bull fight at the Vemulawada temple terrorized people and the devotees, the devotees and the temple administration went into jitters at the most famous Kanipakam Vinayaka temple in the Chittor district as some peculiar and bizarre sounds emanated from one of the hundis in the temple.

After some hours of continuous sounds, it was established that the sounds had stemmed from an imported watch lying in the hundi.

Earlier people suspected there could be bomb inside the hundi and bomb squads were called in from Tirupati and Chittor. (JUBS)
