Nitin Gadkari to launch Telangana Poru Yatra

BJP president Nitin Gadkari will inaugurate the party’s 22-day Telangana Poru Yatra on Jan 19 in Mahaboobnagar district.

BJP state unit secretary N. Ramachandra Rao told journalists in Hyderabad today that the yatra would be led by state unit president G Kishan Reddy. “The Yatra is meant to bring pressure on the Centre to introduce the Telangana bill in the budget session of the Parliament for the creation of the separate state of Telangana,” he said.

Gadkari will arrive at Maktal in the district by a special helicopter and will flag off the Yatra at Krishna village of the Maganoor mandal. “It will conclude at Bhadrachalam in Khammam district on February 9,” he revealed.

The Yatra will cover 171 mandals, 986 villages, 36 municipalities in 88 assembly constituencies through a distance of 3,500km in nine districts in Telangana region, Ramachandra Rao said.

The leaders of the Telangana Joint Action Committee have also been invited by the BJP to participate in the event. (JUBS)
