DGP warns against stopping Andhra buses

DGPDGP Mr Dinesh Reddy today warned the leaders of the Telangana agitation against any sort of violence and asked the agitators to run their movement in a peaceful manner.

Addressing a media conference in Nellore today during his one day tour of the district, Mr Dinesh Reddy asked the protagonists of separate Telangana not to trouble the people in any manner.

“If you go on violating laws of the land in the name of Telangana movement, we will not keep quiet. I therefore appeal to you not to test our patience,” cautioned the DGP.

The DGP’s warning gains significance in the wake of violence at Andhra-Telangana border this morning as agitators resorted to Rasta Roko and stopped Andhra area private buses for several hours. The agitators even attacked buses with stones and damaged more than 20 buses and fought pitched battles with police.

The DGP asked the agitators not to resort to Rasta Rokos on national highways as the programme is causing severe hardship to women and children due to frequent freezing of traffic.
