Some unidentified people set fire to the statues of the late YSR and destroyed four of them at various places in Kurnool district in the last two days leading to tension and agitations.
As the destruction of the statues took place coinciding with the Odarpu Yatra of YSR congress party president YS Jaganmohan reddy, tempers raised at several places in the district provoking the party activists into resorting to Rasta Roko and demonstrations.
YSR statues at Nandikotturu, agraharam,Erraguntla and Kodumuru were set on fire and destroyed by some unidentified people during the night. All these statues were unveiled by Jagan during his on going Padayatra.
Following the destruction, Jagan’s followers resorted to demonstrations and Rasta Roko on the Kurnool-Guntur highway sending traffic jam for a distance of 5 km.
