T cong MPs stay away from parliament

TelanganaMPs10 Congress MPs of the Telangana region, who had resigned on July 4, demanding separate state of Telangana, didn’t attend the first day of the Monsoon session of Parliament today.

9 MPs of the Lok Sabha and one MP of the Rajya Sabha stayed away from the proceedings of both the Houses. “We have decided to keep off the session till a clear announcement is made on the Telangana,” Ponnam Prabhakar and K. Keshava Rao told journalists in Delhi.

There are totally 12 congress MPs from the Telangana region. The MPs, who had resigned, are slated to meet Congress General Secretary in-charge of Andhra Pradesh Ghulam Nabi Azad this evening to hold consultations on the issue. 

The MPs have recently rejected a request of Azad to withdraw their resignations. The other 3 MPs who had not submitted their papers are attending the Parliament.
