Left, DMK routed in elections

Left, DMK routed in elections The trends and results in the counting in the five states where assembly elections were held indicate that the people of Tamil Nadu have finally shown the door to the corrupt DMK regime. In West Bengal, as everyone expected, the Left Front, which ruled the state for nearly 35 years, is on its way out as Trinamool Congress, led by the most popular Mamatha Banerjee who is also known as Didi, is finding its way to the pedestal of power.

In Tamil Nadu, Jayalalitha is set to assume power as Chief Minster for the third time while in West Bengal Didi will assume the mantle of chief minister to lead the state ending three-and-half-decades of the Left Front rule.

In Puducherry too, the AIADMK and its allies have won in 11 seats and were leading in 8 seats as against the DMK and its allies who won in 6 seats and were leading in 3 seats as per the results and trends available.

In Kerala, the Congress-led United Democratic Front is steadily maintaining an upper hand over the ruling Left Democratic Front led by CPI (M). When the last reports came in at 2.05 pm, the congress led UDF has won in 31 seats and has been maintaining lead in 41 seats as against the LDF which won in 43 seats and was maintaining lead in 24 seats.

In Assam, the ruling Congress is all set to be emerging as the single largest party for a third successive term.
