Is the TRS-Congress merger on the cards?

TRS, Congress party, chandrasekhar Rao,BJP, telangana state, MPs, pranab mukherjeeShould the TRS chief agree to combine his party with the Congress Party, then the party will be in a position to think about agreeing to the popular demand for a separate state, revealed the veteran Congress leader and Union Finance Minister, Pranabh Mukherjee when a group of the Congress MPs from the region called on him at New Delhi recently. The Congress high command is reported to have put forth a pre-condition to Telangana Rashtra Samithi for according separate statehood to Telangana region.

Further, he mooted this proposal to the TRS founder K Chandrasekhara Rao just a couple of days back and also asked the Congress MPs to prevail over KCR in this regard.

Pranab reportedly holds the view that in case the centre makes up its decision on giving a separate state, then the Congress should not have any political adversaries in the new state. According to Pranab, the TDP would not be a force to reckon with in the new state and eventually it is the Congress Party which should be at the helm.

Amid reports that the TRS is mulling over joining the BJP Party, Pranab wants the state MPs to prevent the former from going ahead with its plan and ensure that the TRS comes into the fold of the Congress Party. It may be noted that the BJP has many a time in the past has offered unconditional support to the TRS Party in the hope of achieving a separate state.

In the coming days, it will be known whether the TRS will accept the bait offered by the Congress Party.
