Telugu Mahila, the women’s wing of the TDP, has a new chief in Shobha Hymavathi. Senior TDP leader and former Assembly Speaker Ms. Pratibha Bharathi told media persons in Hyderabad today that the women’s wing of the party had elected Shobha Hymavathi as its new chief at its meeting.
A new body of Telugu Mahila has been constituted with 165 members to run its affairs. The wing will now have 12 vice presidents, 9 general secretaries, 32 executive secretaries, 10 propaganda secretaries and 58 secretaries, in addition to having 39 ordinary members.
Nannapaneni Rajakumari, Roja and Jaya Prada worked as presidents of the Telugu Mahila in the past and the during the time of Roja, the women’s wing of the TDP became very popular as she toured the entire state, interacted with women supporters of the TDP and conducted various political activities with the involvement of the women members.
After Roja was forced out of the TDP, the women’s wing has become a dull entity losing its sheen. There was no powerful woman leader in the TDP except Nannapaneni Rajakumari.
Members of the Telugu Mahila are hopeful that the wing will become very active once again under the leadership of Shoba Hymavathi.
