Rail Roko agitators to be booked under Railways Act

DineshReddyDGP Mr Dinesh Reddy today warned the Telangana agitators that the police would book cases under the Railways Act against the T activists if they indulge in sabotage of the railway tracks or block the moment of trains during the three day rail roko stir commencing from Oct 15.

Addressing a media conference at police headquarters, Mr Dinesh Reddy said that the cases would be non-bailable in nature and attract imprisonment up to 10 years. “We will register non-bailable cases against persons who will remove fish plates, agitate on railway tracks and destroy or damage railway tracks,” Dinesh Reddy said.

He also said that railway courts would not allow withdrawal of cases registered under the Railways Act and the offenders would lose their jobs if they are found to be government employees.

“The acts of causing trouble to the rail travelers would be horrible and the Government has taken a serious view of the rail roko agitation,” said Dinesh reddy.

Asserting that police are bound to make an entry if the agitators resort to violence, the DGP said that the Centre is rushing 18 additional companies of security forces to meet the security requirements in the state.
