AP cyber police, who arrested Mr Venkata reddy, owner of the news portal greatandhra.com in Bangalore on Thursday, brought him to Hyderabad. He will be produced before the Nampally criminal courts today.

Information trickling in from Bangalore said that an AP police team, which picked him up from his residence there on a tip off, took him to Hyderabad immediately. Hyderabad media reported that he was arrested on a complaint by the Congress MP Mr Madhu Yashki Goud.

Mr Goud in his complaint to the police said that the portal published a false story about his personal life some months ago. Since then, the Hyderabad cyber police are on the look out for him.

Police came to know Mr Venkata reddy has been operating from a place in Bangalore and on a tip off, they zeroed in on him and took him into custody.

It might be said that the said news portal is notorious for writing obscene articles against celebrities, prominent personalities and VIPs based on its whims and fancies. “The portal doesn’t care for facts,” said a web media professional, adding that the operators of the site survive on dissemination of false, useless and garbage-like stuff.
