BCCI revenue to dip from Rs 2000 crore to Rs 400 crore February 11, 2016 13:43

If Lodha Panel's recommendations on curtailing the advertisement breaks during the matches is implemented as planned, BCCI is expected to suffer a financial loss worth Rs. 1600 crore. Due to this loss, along with the functioning of BCCI, even the development of junior cricket in India gets affected majorly. The current operative revenue as per BCCI balance sheet is approximately Rs 2000 crore, where the broadcasting rights and advertisement revenues forms the major portion. But the Lodha Panel recommendation proposed to allow advertisements, only during"lunch, tea or drinks break", which would show a very great impact, as the  revenues are expected to come down to Rs. 400 crore.  As per the sources, currently, the Star Sports, possessing the broadcasting rights of BCCI's matches, is offering Rs 43 crores per match. But after the Panel recommendation’s implementation, it is expected to be less than Rs. 10 crores. “Yes, it is true that we are facing a situation which could lead to a revenue loss of Rs 1600 crore. Star Sports will renegotiate their deal and may be pay us only 20-25 percent of the amount that we get currently per match. Ditto for IPL broadcasters,” sources said.Initiatives like these, further implies that, during outside tours, the host countries like England, New Zealand or Australia will earn more than India, out of the broadcast deals. Along with the above effects, another major impact would be on BCCI's age-group structure, which is one of the most robust in world cricket, if Lodha’s recommendation gets implemented. Approximately BCCI spends Rs. 750 crores on the subsidies to state associations, about Rs. 400-450 crores on match fees and allowances of players, right from U-16.  Not stopping there, BCCI spends around Rs 350 crores on its matches, starting from U-16, U-19, U-22 to Ranji Trophy across the country. The former first-class cricketers and international cricketers get monthly pension for which another Rs 25 crore is spent by the board.By Phani Ch

No expiry date for these beauties! February 11, 2016 12:37

When there comes a discussion of heroines in the film industry, nothing threatens them as much as the word called ‘Outdated’. Regardless of the heroes age, the industry is always open for the senior heroes, who are really worth. But the term ‘seniority’ has got a synonym called ‘Outdated’ in case of heroines.Especially in Tollywood, the makers are falling behind fresh beauties and, no doubt, the fresh ones always offer great support in pulling the revenue from the ‘C’ Centres. After the new entrants like Rakul Preeth Singh, who currently has popular projects like Sarainodu in her account, even the heroines like Kajal, Samantha are able to continue well, with the big projects.  After Temper success, Kajal bounced back and that made her fortunate to sign as a leading lady opposite Power Star in Sardaar Gabbar Singh. She is even one of the female leads in Brahmothsavam.Coming to Samantha, after Son of Satyamurthy, she was not much heard in Tollywood.  But currently, even she has two popular subjects in Telugu - Brahmothsavam and Janatha Garage, along with her guru Trivikram’s ‘A Aa’ film. After Baahubali, Anushka is on high and is in no mood of accepting other small films, while Tamanna has Oopiri which is gearing up for a release in Summer, along with prestigious Avanthika role in Baahubali 2. It is purely the capability of the above mentioned actresses, who are able to bag big films, even after the several new entrants. Presenting them in a new way and upgrading as per the audience tastes, is what all they are doing to stay on the track even today. By Phani Ch

Nannaku Prematho in Baahubali row! February 11, 2016 12:04

When the Indian style of stories like Baahubali did well in the countries like Japan, why cannot the Hollywood style of screenplay oriented films do well in those countries?May be director Sukumar got the same doubt with his Nannaku Prematho movie and  now got ready to release his film in Japanese countries. Right from the beginning, Nannaku Prematho was tagged as a multiplex entertainer, and this made, ‘C’ class audience sound low and even the collections could not give a good boost to the makers. So, as the tag called ‘Multiplex entertainer’ is anyway there, the makers are planning to expand the movie business, targeting such audiences, and that is the reason behind releasing Nannaku Prematho in Japan now. Reportedly, on February 14th, the movie would be released in Japan, along with Japanese subtitles. Not stopping there, the makers are even planning a dubbed version of the movie for this summer. Along with a local distribution company called IndoEiga, noted producer Dil Raju, will be releasing Nannaku Prematho in Japan.   Based on the applause in that country, the makers are planning to release Nannaku Prematho in several other foreign languages. At a point of time, where several say that, Bollywood is over Tollywood, Telugu films like Baahubali, Nannaku Prematho moving to the foreign countries is a good start to the Tollywood. By Phani Ch

Mahesh Babu repeating the same mistake! February 11, 2016 09:16

Just after a short gap of Srimanthudu, Mahesh Babu is keen on releasing Brahmothsavam for this Summer, and this is now hinting the negative atmosphere, to the milky hero. When it is the film of huge stars like Pawan Kalyan, Mahesh Babu, who are on high in Tollywood, a movie per year will make them stay comfortable, scoring hits. But making the back to back films, within a short time, may excite the fans for the time being, but if the history is taken out, even fans worry, as most of such films, released within a short time, did not do well at the box office. If history is referred, just within a few months of the blockbuster Pokiri release, Sainikudu was out into the theaters and terribly failed at the box office. The reason, because, Pokiri fever was still in the audience and they could not inject Sainikudu at that time. Now even the same thing is being repeated in Srimanthudu - Brahmothsavam case. Mahesh’s last outing Srimanthudu has been a huge hit and the influence of that film is still in his fans hearts. At this point of time, just within a few months after Srimanthudu, Brahmothsavam is aimed at Summer release and moreover, the teaser revealed that Mahesh Babu’s looks are close to Srimanthudu. So obviously there is a threat of comparing with Srimanthudu and that further puts Brahmothsavam in the red zone. However, if the quality of the film is really good, nothing can stop it from moving towards the success. Hope Brahmothsavam falls under such genre.            By Phani Ch

Errabelli, Prakash Goud quits TDP, joins TRS February 11, 2016 08:10

TDP, which is on a spree of receiving back to back jolts for quite some time, added another tight jolt into its account, after Errabelli Dayakar Rao and Prakash Goud quitted the party and joined in the opposition TRS, last night. Right after the formation of the Telangana state, be it due to the high influence of TRS party in the state or any other reasons, no other party other than TRS, are able to withstand. All the elections held, including the recent GHMC, proved the same. This is making the other party leaders speculate that, they are not going to have any future in the coming days staying in the same parties and so are looking towards TRS. Just within a day gap of TDP MLA Vivek Goud, putting on pink upper garment, now even the senior leaders Errabelli Dayakar Rao and Prakash Goud did the same. Both the leaders joined the pink party in the presence of Telangana Chief Minister KCR. Just like Vivek Goud, who backed TDP even after joining in TRS, Errabelli also stayed away from making abusive comments on TDP and said that, he left Naidu’s party only after convincing himself for a long time. Errabelli further asked the TDP supporters to forgive him for quitting the party and even stressed that, he had nothing against Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. He further said that all the criticisms, he made earlier on TRS are not personal, and said that criticizing the opposition party are a part and parcel of the politics. Not stopping there, Errabelli further said that, there are more leaders who will be joining TRS from TDP. This statement is currently haunting Naidu. Whatever it be, even the analysts opine that, TDP’s political career in Telangana is almost at its climax and are opining that, at least the party would do better in AP, before Jagan’s party takes control over the state.
