However, Mathews seeking comment, did not immediately respond to a request.

“Mathews said he directed his daughter to stand near a large tree at approximately 3 AM (on Saturday) because she wouldn’t drink her milk,” an arrest affidavit said. The father told the police that he checked on her about 15 minutes later and she was not there, said the affidavit.

A police spokesman said, Mathews called police to report her missing, about five hours after sending her outside. Moreover, Mathews told the police that he had seen coyotes in the alley near where he told his daughter to stand, said the affidavit.

Sherin who was born in India, was adopted two years ago from an orphanage. The little girl had developmental and limited verbal communication issues.

“Before arriving in the United States, she suffered from malnourishment and is on a special diet”, said Sergeant Kevin Perlich, a spokesman for the Richardson Police Department.

While the search is on for the three-year-old, her 4year old sister was shifted to Child protective services.
