‘Shakti’ turns Jr. NTR into powerless actor

‘Shakti’ meaning ‘Power’ chills out a major disappointment for the fans of Jr. NTR, lock stock and barrel.

After all the hype created by the director Mehar Ramesh who said that the late legendary actor NTR will be seen in the junior Actor, producer Ashwini Dutt who said that the movie was made with the highest ever budget so far in the Tollywood and the hero himself who said that no other actor except him can do the role, what Shakti gave for the audiences is a dull story, a lackluster screen play and a rudderless direction.

The Story

Egyptian couple, played by Sonu sood and Pooja Bedi, is a determined lot to bring back to life their Egyptian mummies. They are sure that this can be done only through the Shakti Trishoolam lying at one of the Shakti Peethams in India but they are also aware that it is under the protection of Rudra donned by Jr.NTR.

Sonu Sood dies in his hands when he tries to get that Trishoolam. His wife, Pooja Bedi, seeks to avenge her husband’s death and takes an oath to fulfill his desire.

After 27 years, she sends her men to India to bring the Trishoolam to Egypt and in the process they would try to kidnap Shakti Matha-blessed girl Aishwarya played by Ileana who is always under the protection of Shakti again played by NTR the junior.

The flaw

Mehar Ramesh takes the period from 1984 to 2011 to tell his story simply forgetting the fact that kingdoms were vanished long ago. He drags on the movie with an unconvincing script and meaningless narration. He tries to elevate the film as socio-fantasy story but ultimately it ended into something else.

The depiction of the character ‘Rudra’, which is supposed to be the main guiding force in the film, is made to end in a disaster as the director has lifted dialogues and scenes from the super hit movie ‘Magadheera’. Jr.NTR looked good in Shakit character and surely did justice to the role but he lacked in creativity and style in Rudra character. And talking about the role of Ileana, it is a sheer waste of time to discuss it.
