After a British woman hockey player of Indian origin, Ashpal Gaur Bhogal, complained about the sexual harassment from India hockey captain Sardar Singh, the latter rubbished the charges saying that, they are baseless.

The woman has filed the complaint with Ludhiana police, claiming she has been engaged to Sardar for the past four years and alleged that he “mentally, physically and emotionally tortured” her.

Responding to the issue, Sardar said, “The allegations are wrong and I'm waiting for the copy of the complaint. I will plan legal action thereafter.”

However, Sardar accepted that, the woman is his friend and she even used to visit his house, but were never engaged.

“We were Facebook friends, she had also visited my home. We were not engaged and no ring ceremony took place and there were no sexual relations between us. She used to visit the places where I played matches,” Sardar said.

When Sardar was questioned about his posts about a woman on the social networking sites, he said that, his accounts were hacked.  

“I'm not using Facebook and Twitter account for the last two years, but somebody retweeted my tweets. They had accessed my passwords," Sardar further said.

In the past, few tweets and his photographs with the British woman, have come out from Sardar’s social networking accounts.



Sardar even assured to cooperate in the investigation, whenever the officials called for. 

“We were just good friends and I still respect her. Moreover, I will co-operate with the police and will join investigations if required,” he added.

The police said that, Ashpal was the first Sikh player in Britain's under-19 women's hockey team. Investigations in the case have been marked to the Koom Kalan police station in Ludhiana district. Police station in-charge S.S. Nagra confirmed the matter was under probe following the complaint.

The woman alleged that, she met Sardar in 2012 through social media and in 2014, they got engaged and she even became pregnant last year. “It was from then, Sardar started forcing me to go for abortion and even started avoiding”, the woman said.
