Weight loss in Education

When the Kindergarten system of pre-schooling called LKG and UKG was introduced, the elderly people asked innocently whether the education system is weighed by its weight now, as it is called in terms of Kg (Kilogram).

The elderly people's doubts became true in the education later with the over weights of books carried by the students up to x class with extra study material like non detail, work books, question banks etc.  After so much of comments, suggestions and debates on this issue, at last the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) wrote to the Government to make certain decisions in this direction.

Last year some changes are made for the books of the students of III, VI and VII.  This year a lot of changes took place in reducing the volumes of the text books not only to reduce physical burden of the weight but also to reduce the mental burden for the students of IV, V, VIII and IX.  The non details and supplementary are merged with the main book and also the number of pages is brought down to the extent possible.

The burden reduction work was taken up as per the guidelines of National Curriculum Framework 2005 under which the State Curriculum Framework was made in 2011 to reduce the burden on the students.

After successful implementation of the above this year, X class books will be taken up next year to do some research for reducing the physical and mental burden of the students.
