If you watched some of the best players in the world being taken to their knees by strong winds. These PGA Tour standouts looked defenseless against the steady 25-mph winds that gusted up to 40 mph.
I thought, "If these guys have so much trouble playing in wind like that, how are us mortals supposed to have a chance?"
I know the things you are supposed to do: Take a three-quarter swing. Swing easy and use an abbreviated follow-through.
I know all of that, but the wind plays on my mind. So I asked several of our best local guys and teachers for advice on playing in the wind. You will notice that they talk more about the mental approach to it than technique.
This is all great advice, and I'll try to follow it.
