Samaikyandhra means the United Andhra State as exists now. The people interested in keeping the State united formed associations and organizations to express their love and affection towards the State- Telugu Talli. They are staging their protests against the ‘unilateral decision’ of the Congress Party to carve Telangana along with Hyderabad out of the existing State of Andhra Pradesh with the slogan ‘Jai Samaikyandhra’. The slogan in fact also includes welfare of ‘Telangana’ where as ‘Jai Telangana’ was restricted to the welfare of Telangana region only.
The protest of Samaikyandhra is unique as the moment wants integration but not disintegration of the State to retain strength remaining as the biggest State in the South India. But the cause of the moment is reduced when the demand comes down only to Hyderabad as suggested by some political leaders. Some say that it should be made a combined Capital for both the States and some say that it should be made Country’s second Capital but it should not be given to the Telangana State. Such alternative suggestions made by the political leaders, in fact is belittling the Samaikyandhra movement that wants a United State for Telugu speaking people.
Samaikyandhra movement’s activity is going on in other parts of the Andhra Pradesh than Telangana region and Hyderabad which shows the foresight of the leaders in evading clashes where as the movement that belongs to entire State should be done in all the districts of AP. The movement not even touched Hyderabad fearing eruption of violence. The protests are made against the leaders of both the regions and Center but people of Telangana are not criticized anywhere in the slogans or protests in Samaikyandhra as they want to live together with them.
Angry protest in Andhra region only targeted the people’s representatives in Seemandhra for allowing the situation go beyond their control and the leaders at the Center for their hasty decision to bifurcate the State.
It is a point to be appreciated that the Bus Yatra, public meetings and other protested are demonstrated only in the region of Seemandhra that avoided possible clash in the other regions and an in fight in the State that would have made the situation hard to control and that would have given an opportunity to the political leaders to divide the hearts of the people of the State leaving deep wounds that would take centuries to heal.
