Highest Phailin Cyclone Loss in Srikakulam Assessed

A Central team went on tour to ascertain the loss due to Phailin Cyclone in Andhra Pradesh assessed that major loss is sustained by the Srikakulam District.

The farmers whose condition became pathetic due to the Phailin cyclone's washing off the crop, belongings and at some places villages as a whole needed immediate help have urged State and Central Government.  The Prime Minister agreed to give immediate relief of Rs.1000 crores when the Chief Minister approached him.

The team that has visited the cyclone hit areas for first hand information came out with the assessment that the Srikakulam District is the worst hit in the cyclonic devastation.

The team comprising of A.Krishna Prasad from the Ministry of transport, PGS Rao from Finance Department and V.K.Bhatla from the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation have physically seen the trees felled and the crop spoiled by the winds and in stagnated water.

The loss at Srikakulam District alone is assessed as Rs.914 crores out of the total loss of Rs.6400 crores in the State.
