BSF Jawan died as Pak Violates Ceasefire Again

Pak forces fired again indiscriminately at the border at midnight in which a BSF Jawan died and seven were wounded.

Pakistan has been violating ceasefire agreement and has been provoking Indian forces intently for the last 10 ten days targeting mostly the BSF personnel and villages. For the last one year the violation of the ceasefire agreement made in November 2003 between India and Pakistan has been going on.

Villagers in the border areas had to flee to safer places because of the threat of firing from Pakistan that made them spend sleepless nights.

Defence spokesman Col. R.K. Palta stated, “Pakistan Army has violated the ceasefire in Hamirpur area of Bhimber Gali today (Tuesday) morning. They have used mortars, automatics and small arms to target our positions. Our troops have effectively retaliated Pakistan firing using equal calibre weapons. The firing started 10.35 a.m. today (Tuesday) and firing exchanges continued in the area till 11.15 a.m.”

The violation of the ceasefire agreement was made by Pak hardly a day after the Home Minister’s visit to the area and giving assurances that the Home Ministry will be backing the BSF.
