Saving our mother-tongue, Telugu

While the nation is bent on westernization of cultures, and Andhra Pradesh more aggressively trying to achieve the same, Chittoor Zilla Parishad has adopted measures that would save the traditional values of the state to a small yet significant extent.

A matter of shame to the state is that not only are we in the race for westernization but also we have decided to neglect our own mother-tongue in simple day to day conversations too. In a modest attempt to rescue the same Zilla Parishad of Chittoor and its employees have taken steps to ensure that the proceedings in the office are to be done in Telugu itself. Employees are being urged to learn typing in Telugu.

Not only that, they would have to attend the office in traditional attire of “Pancha” and “Khanduwa” on every first Saturday of the month. Photos of Telugu Talli and Sankarambaadi Sundarachari were hung inside the office too.
