HC turns down govt's petition against CAT's award

The Andhra Pradesh High Court has turned down the petition filed by the state government challenging the order of the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) directing the government for changing Dinesh Reddy as the DGP as the tribunal found him ineligible for that post. The court, which dismissed the petition filed by the government, has upheld the award of the Central Administrative Tribunal.

The court has also said that until a new DGP is appointed, the current DGP should be made the in charge DGP.  Further, the court charged fine of Rs.5000 for filing a petition against tribunal's award.  It may be noted that CAT has set aside the appointment of Dinesh Reddy as DGP acting on a petition filed by an IPS officer Gautam.
