HC stays metro works in four areas

The AP High Court today ordered the authorities to stop the on going metro rail works in four of the city areas.

Passing the interim orders on a batch of petitions filed by some affected business persons, the court asked the metro rail authorities to stop the works at Ameerpet, Krishna Nagar, Madhura Nagar and Yousafguda till the final disposal of the petitions.

The petitioners sought directions to the authorities to stop the works arguing that the sudden changes in the rail line alignment affected them adversely.

“How can you change the rail line alignments frequently as per your likes and dislikes without considering the public opinion?” the state apex court asked the metro rail authorities. (J)
