To locate and arrest self-styled religious leader Satguru Rampalji Maharaj cost taxpayers nearly Rs. 30 crore. At the ashram, the police had to struggle a lot and evacuated more than 10,000 followers of Rampal and then amidst high security he was detained. The self-styled religious guru was the most wanted for ignoring 40 court orders.
The police have produced Rampal before the court and the case was adjourned to December 23rd. Rampal would be produced along with co-accused Ram Pal Dhaka and O P Hooda in the next hearing. Rampal's arrest was ordered initially over a 2006 murder case, in which he is accused of telling supporters to open fire on villagers, killing one and injuring six.
