South Africa denies visa to Dalai Lama

South Africa has refused to grant a visa for the Dalai Lama to attend the World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates in Cape Town next month citing this move would disturb the country's relation with China. Meanwhile South African laureate Archbishop Desmond Tutu is likely to boycott the submit with refusal of visa.

In fact it was China who kept the pressure on South African government with their economic and political influence and succeeded in it. The spiritual leader was denied South Africa visa for the third time in a row in five years. 13 individuals and eight organisations had confirmed that they would attend the summit, including former Soviet president Mikhail Gorbachev. But with refusal of Dalai Lama visa, they are giving second thought about their presence.
