All Toll Plazas Starts E-POS Machines for Payment of Toll Tax December 03, 2016 10:41

Now all toll plazas have started the use of e-pos machines to facilitate payment of toll tax which re-started on Friday midnight.According to to the toll plaza management, one or two gates at the toll plazas will only accept cash and remaining will accept either debit or credit card and mobile wallets."Toll plaza managements have put up banners 2-km earlier, requesting motorists to tender exact change. We will accept even Rs 2,000 notes if the staff have sufficient change,” said Mr. Sridhar Reddy of GMR. He runs the toll plaza at Panthangi in Yadadri district on the Vijayawada national highway. The toll plazas staff on the Vijayawada, Bengaluru, Nagpur, and Mumbai national highways said that "old Rs 500s would also be accepted in case of heavy vehicles who pay Rs 200 or more in toll tax. While e-pos machines will be a big relief for private vehicle owners, allowing them to swipe the card instead of paying in cash, the Goods Transporters Association said that a majority of truck drivers don’t have debit or credit cards."The Association's chairman, A K Agarwal, said that "demonitisation and restriction on cash withdrawals from banks has dealt a death blow to the transport business.""There are about 1.50 lakh trucks in Telangana and about 2 lakh in Andhra Pradesh. In all, there are 70 lakh transport trucks in India. About 80 percent of these trucks will be stranded for want of cash. We transporters do not have even old Rs 500 currency. The transport business is purely cash-based and toll collection from Friday midnight is going to have its impact on the business," he said.Transporters said "we have left it to God. If normalcy is not restored, most of them will have no choice but to down shutters and go back to their villages." Also Read: 70 Call Center Operators Arrested for Duping AmericansBY M. DIVYA SRI

“Married Women can Store 500gm Gold, Unmarried Can Store 250gm”- Govt December 02, 2016 09:15

In another shock, the government has introduced another guideline for  undeclared wealth. The government announced the 26-year-old rule which says that only married women can store more gold. "Jewelry that is inherited or that bought with declared wealth will not be taxed", the Finance Ministry said in a statement. "Legitimate holding of jewelry up to any extent is fully protected," it clarified. "There is no limit on holding of gold jewelry or ornaments by anybody provided it is acquired from explained sources of income, including inheritance." "Even if the gold does not match one's known income, jewelry and ornaments to the extent of 500 gm for the married lady, 250 gm for an unmarried lady and 100 gm for the male member will not be seized," the government said, producing portions of the 1995 law. "The apprehension... that the jewelry which is acquired out of disclosed sources or exempted income shall become taxable under the proposed amendment is totally unfounded and baseless," the government's statement said. Officers can excuse those who have  larger quantities of gold if it is a  family tradition. ALSO READ: "KCR to Offer 11.7 kg Gold Crown to Warangal Goddess BY M. DIVYA SRI
