“Chennai Express” Producer Karim Morani Arrested In Rape Case September 23, 2017 13:34

“Chennai Express” Producer Karim Morani Arrested In Rape Case:- Following the cancellation of his anticipatory bail a day earlier, Bollywood filmmaker, Karim Morani was arrested by the Hyderabad Police early on Saturday after he surrendered in a rape case. The Hyderabad High Court's decision was upheld by the Supreme Court to cancel the Chennai Express producer’s anticipatory bail. On September 5, the Hyderabad High Court of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh had held the lower court's order a valid. As per the order, Morani's anticipatory bail was cancelled on grounds of concealment of the fact that he has been facing criminal trial in the 2G scam case and was in jail for several months. Mukul Rohatgi, the senior advocate for Morani did not give 2-3 days’ time from a bench comprising Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justices AM Khanwilkar and DY Chandrachud. The issue of belated filing of the FIR was raised by Rohatgi and that too at Rangareddy District in Telangana. The senior advocate said it was not the case of grant of bail but rather one of unjust cancellation of the anticipatory bail. It has been alleged that Morani had sedated the aspiring actress and raped her several times, took her nude photos between July 2015 and January 2016. There was no rape but it was a consensual sex with the girl, explained Karim’s lawyer. However, the victim’s counsel strongly opposed to this. Initially, anticipatory bail to Morani on January 30 this year was granted by the session’s court at Telangana. However, it later cancelled it after being told that the producer had concealed in his bail plea his involvement in the 2G case and the fact that he was in jail in connection with the corruption matter. After hearings, Hyderabad High Court cancelled the anticipatory bail granted to Karim Morani in this rape case. So the producer moved to Supreme court. On Friday, the Supreme Court refused to involve with an order passed by the Hyderabad High Court. Karim Morani’s appeal challenging the Hyderabad High Court verdict was dismissed by the Supreme Court. As ordered by the High Court, SC asked the producer to surrender before the Telangana police. Karim Morani is an Indian film producer who has produced films like Chennai Express and Ra.One with Sharukh Khan. (Video Source: NTV Telugu) SUPRAJA

Former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav is accused of allotting maintenance contracts of two IRCTC hotels to a private firm during his tenure of ministership. DMK Working Prez MK Stalin Demands CBI Probe In Transfer Of RK Nagar Vote Scam September 23, 2017 09:55

DMK Working Prez MK Stalin Demands CBI Probe In Transfer Of RK Nagar Vote Scam:- A CBI probe has been demanded by DMK working president M.K. Stalin and PMK youth wing leader Anbumani Ramadoss on Friday into the allegations of transfer  of Rs 89 crore to voters by Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami and his ministers during the R.K. Nagar bypoll. Citing the affidavit of Tamil Nadu Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Rajesh Lakhoni in the Madras high court that the city police commissioner holds the responsibility to probe into the complaints of money distribution to voters. The DMK leader raised doubts if the CEO abdicating his responsibility. Stalin further said that under the direct control of the Chief Minister, the city police commissioner comes and the police could not be expected to file cases on Palaniswami and his ministers. So, to pave way for an independent enquiry into the charges,  Palaniswami must resign from his post. Stalin said it would cause a blemish to fair and free polls and endanger Parliament democracy, if the Election Commission is complacent. He recalled that during the raids at the health minister C. Vijayabaskar’s house, documents containing the amount of money distributed to R.K. Nagar voters were unearthed by the Income Tax department. To prevent the DMK from winning the elections, the Election Commission of India cancelled the bypoll based on the list. The C is maintaining that the situation in the constituency is not conducive for conducting elections, he added. Stalin said the Election Commission was sent a 34-page report by the IT department. He recalled that the CEO was directed by the Election Commissioner to file cases on the ministers whose names were mentioned in the list for taking responsibility for distributing the money. Stalin pointed out that there were documentary evidence to suggest that Palaniswami monitored the distribution of 13.27 crores to 33,193 voters. This was the first time a Chief Minister was charged with distributing money to voters, but no case had been filed against him till now. The Election Commission’s stand on the charges were described as ‘anti-democratic’ by Anbumani and said that since no action had been taken against the ministers who were charged with money distribution, the commission should have recommended a CBI probe. The progress in the money distribution case was neither submitted to the court by the police department nor the Election Commission. Anbumani said an enquiry by the state police would amount to burying the case and EC’s assertion that it was monitoring the case was a farce. SUPRAJA
