You could be arrested for Facebooking at office

Now, feel happy for yourselves if you are in India or anywhere else but Malaysia. Recently the Malaysian Anti-corruption Commission MACC, told the people that using any social networking media or engaging in personal matters while working at any government linked companies or civil serives would amount to corruption.

The deputy chief commissioner of MACC, Datuk Sutinah Sutan, said that any person indulging in personal tasks for more than three hours of his total working time, it could be considered a violation and corruption since the valuable time and services which are bought by the government by paying salary to the employees is being misappropriated causing delay to the tasks that have been assigned to a person.

Doing anything other than those stipulated as the job specifications could qualify under this violation at the corporate integrity plegde signing event which was held by the Kumpulan Melaka Berhad, KMB. KMB is the first of its kind agency that has ever been established to take to task issues of corruption and upholding anti-graft principles in a corporate environment. The violators are punishable, Datuk Sutinah said.
