Air India pilots call off strike

In a major developement, Air India pilots, who had been on a strike for the past 58 days, have called off the strike with immediate effect. More than 500 striking pilots are going to resume the duties within 48 hours.  Air India pilots came to this decision after the Delhi High Court took efforts and settled the dispute. Notably, Air India management has told the court that it would consider the pilots' grieviances sympathetically.

The sacked pilots, who are over 100 in number, should submit 'willingness to join' letter in order to get reinstated, said the court. The striking pilots will also submit the joining reports within 48 hours.  The decision has come in as a relief to many passengers, who had to cancel their foreign trips due to the strike. Air India pilots demanded that the sacked pilots should be taken back besides recognizing  the derecognized Indian Pilots Guild (IPG).

It may be recalled that pilots launched their strike on May 7 against Air India's decision of the training pilots son Boeing-787 Dreamliner, which is going to be introduced soon. Notably, Air India pilots on Monday approached Delhi High Court stating that they would be calling off their strike provided that Air India management was ready for discussing the issue under humane nature.
