Indian in US shot dead, owns a grocery

The investigating agency termed the attack on an Indian origin Grocery shop owner in Atlanta on Wednesday night as a robbery attempt. Suhrid Das (48) was a grocery shop owner and as usual on the fateful day was locking up his shop. Just then he was confronted by the assailant, who shot him dead. The entire neighborhood was reeling under sympathy for the man. All of them termed him as good and friendly as reported in media. So that leaves the issue of a vengeance murder or a provoked murder either. Incidentally a break-in and robbery at another house in the same building just eight hours later led to suspicions that a robbery might be a cause of the killing, WSB Atlanta TV reported.

Banna Grocery was one of four businesses in the two-storey brick building in the Atlanta neighborhood. Police rushed immediately to the spot only to find Das in a pool of blood and shot in the abdomen. They rushed him to the hospital, but later he succumbed, due to the injury.  Taria Camerino, a co-owner of a candy store at the same building said a robber also targeted her store. The neighbors said Das had been robbed two or three times in the past as well.  (With inputs from internet: AarKay)
