Superstar offers free venue for Anna activists 3-day fast

Superstar Rajni sir has given his marriage hall to the activists of India Against Corruption (IAC) to hold their protest fast for next three days from today, at Chennai, Tamilnadu.

But is not for or against any version of Lokpal law, said an activist. "Rajnikanth was here for around ten minutes to see what we are doing. He said he is for anti-corruption, but is not in support of any version of anti-corruption law that is now being debated," Banu Gomes, media coordinator of IAC's Chennai Chapter. The superstar’s words are like verdict to his millions of fans. Knowing his responsibility towards his fans he has always been very diplomatic on sensitive issues.

In a statement issued on Monday, IAC said Rajnikanth has offered his Ragavendra Kalyana Mandapam free of cost for three days Dec 27-29 for IAC to hold their fast protest in support of Hazare. The Mandapam is in the heart of Chennai in Kodambakkam locality.

During Hazare's 12-day fast in August this year, Rajnikanth had expressed his support for the anti-corruption movement, the IAC statement said. According to Gomes, around 200 people have registered for the three-day fasting protest starting Tuesday at 9 am and ending Thursday at 5 pm.

While some believ that the activists got the sanction of allotment from the superstar’s wife. Others say that Rajinikanth and Anna spoke to each other when the activist was here last week to drum up support for his demand for a strong Lokpal Bill. Rajinikanth, now recuperating from an ailment, had made known his support for Anna’s movement.
