The next three years will be very crucial for the nascent stem cell Industry in India as the National Apex Committee for Stem Cell Research and Therapy (NAC-SCRT) has now been set up to formulate regulation. This is expected to fuel innovation, research and commercialization.

The stem cell industry is set for an impetus at the International Conference on Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine 2012: Research to Business (Stemcell 2012). An initiative of Federation of Asian Biotechnology Associations (FABA), the conference is to be held at the Indian School of Business (ISB), Hyderabad from March 22 to 24, 2012.

The event will be inaugurated by Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam, Former President of India and will be addressed by Dr. Stephen Minger, a pioneer of the Stem Cell technology and Minister for Major Industries, Sugar, Commerce & Export Promotion, Government of AP, Dr. Geeta Reddy. A white paper on 'Stem Cell: Transforming Global Medicine and Healthcare Industry' by FABA and YES Bank Limited will be released on the occasion. The conference will feature over 40 renowned international speakers, including Dr. Lukas Utigar of Lonza Bioscience, Prof. Mahendra S Rao of Center for Regenerative Medicine, NIH, USA, and Dr. Mohan Vemuri of Life Technologies, USA.
