Men ponder over injustice heaped on them, 19 Nov–Men’s day

Men's rights is a relatively recent concept—stemming from the late 20th century, as opposed to the 18th century roots of the women's rights movements—and is still underdeveloped as a theory. This topic finds no interest when prejudiced male slogans are afloat in the Indian culture like male dominant society, male chauvinism, male dominancy, king-size, king-pin, king-like…so on. But as a coin has two sides even human beings are of two types, the good and the bad, the dominant and the submissive, the ruling and the ruled, the sufferings creator and the sufferer.  But when it comes up for discussion the society says males are dominant and women are submissive, similarly in all other cases too.  Thanks to Balaji telefilms that the male sufferer emerge on the small screen. The various atrocities faced by the males are slowly being voiced in this society.

One such attempt is The Men's Rights Association (MRA) from Pune, has decided to celebrate International Men's Day on November 19 with a bike rally from Shaniwar Wada to Shivajinagar court. The association plans to submit a memorandum to the District Judge at the end of the rally. MRA activists are demanding a men's welfare ministry and men's commission to address the issue of injustice suffered by men in society. As per last year's statistics from the National Crime Record Bureau (NCRB), nearly 61,453 men have committed suicide compared to 31,754 women in 2010 over domestic issues. There is a clearly 400 per cent increase in the suicide rate among men compared to that among women. Alarming but true the MRA noted.

So men when you think of the James bond always remember the Hen pecked also….. take care, but be happy one day the demands of the MRA would be a reality and you could have secured life too!
