KCR to join hands with NDA! May 29, 2015 18:14

“Is the TRS party joining hands with NDA government?”, this is the question raised by the media to the Telangana Chief Minister KCR. The answer he gave stunned the media. Can you guess what is the answer?, it is his silence.Yes, when the above question was targeted at him, he just remained silent. Actually, KCR said that, there is no such idea in their agenda but did not completely deny the statement. With this, the political analysts started guessing the chances of TRS to join hands with NDA.These facts prove that KCR is willing to join hands with NDAIt is to be noted that, KCR applauded Modi in the recent times for his developmental programmes. He even said that, it is good on the part of Modi to increase the share of funds for the states to carry on the developmental activities. “Modi is giving good importance to all the states which is to be appreciated by the entire country, the central government is not against Telangana”, he opined.Negative issues raised by KCROn the other side, KCR raised few of the negative issues which the TRS government faced from the central government.  “The centre failed to allocate coal for Ramagundam National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) plant, which was a bit disappointed one. But, in rest other issues, the centre extended its good support for Telangana state,” KCR said. From these applauses by KCR, the political analysts almost confirmed that the TRS is making the underground work to convince NDA.            By Phani

Indian-American Children becomes co-winners in Spelling Bee Contest May 29, 2015 18:02

Vanya Shivashankar and Gokul Venkatachalam, both Indian-Americans, came to a tie and are named as co-winners of the annual spelling Bee contest. It is the second year in a row that co-champions were named and the fifth time in the history of the bee. Vanya Shivashankar, a 13-year-old is from Olathe, Kan., has joined her sister Kavya as the only siblings to have won the bee. Kavya won the title in 2009. Indian-Americans account for just less than 1 percent of the US population, but make up more than a fifth of the 285 spellers competing in the 88th edition.Shivashankar and Venkatachalam, 14, of Chesterfield, Mo., intensively competed for 30 minutes, before both were crowned champs. Back and forth they went, correctly spelling words such as scherenschnitte, pyrrhuloxia, thamakau, caudillismo and a slew of other words which would never be able to decode. The crowd roared as Venkatachalam correctly spelled nunatak to ensure that the victory would be shared.“This is a dream come true,” said Shivashankar. “I’ve wanted this for such a long time.” She dedicated her win to her late grandmother. “I hope I make her happy with this,” she said. "I'm so, so proud and in awe of my sister," Kavya now a student at Columbia University said.“I wasn’t nervous at all,” said Venkatachalam. “It was the culmination of all the hard work of the past six years. I’m finally happy to have success.” His one word to describe his win? “Ridiculous.”The last 10 winners of the Spelling Bee competition and 14 of the past 18, have been Indian-Americans, that began in 1999 with Nupur Lala's victory, which was later featured in the documentary "Spellbound." Vanya and Gokul each will receive around $37,000 in cash and prizes and get the trophy to take home."The most surprising words trip spellers up," Paige Kimble, the bee's executive director and the 1981 champion said. "I thought something was going to surprise us here. But it never happened." "I think it's time to consider that the bee may be entering a new era where the level of competition is so intense that we need to entertain this as a possibility every year," she said. "I think the popularity of the event drives up the competitive level and I think that's a good thing.""Every year, they get better and better," said Anamika Veeramani, who won in 2010. "One thing that kind of surprised me was how often they were asking for roots. They never did that when I was competing."Racist trolling was casting an ugly pall over social media as the reaction from some of the nearly one million people viewing the finals live posted biased views about the domination of non-Americans on the contest."One year I wish an American kid could win," read a Twitter post."The kids in the spelling bee should only be AMERICAN," a third tweet said.Slamming the racist backlash against the winners of Indian-origin, the bee's longtime director Paige Kimble said their domination in the contest could be put down to their "perseverance".By Premji

Pappu's Jibe on Modi and Manmohan meet May 29, 2015 16:07

After the dashing decision maker, Narendra Modi invites the Sultan of Policy Paralysis for talks, one Pappu comments that Modi invited Manmohan Singh for one hour economics class."After Manmohanji said yesterday that the economy is going down, the PM invited him for an hour-long pathshala (class). Perhaps he tried to understand how the economy runs, I will ask Dr Singh," said Mr. Pappu, smiling as he drew a roar of laughter from his audience, made up of members of the NSUI, the Congress student's wing.  This comments came at a time when the economy is roaring, business confidence is at record highs, production is galloping ahead, and investors are rushing in to Make in India like there is no tomorrow. If Pappu’s comments were true, then it is equally true that Manmohan’s years of economics classes were not able to educate Congress. Instead of appreciating Modi’s intention to develop India and his hard work behind that, Pappu keeps making fun of PM using the same template and wants to become next PM. If he is really concerned about the nation, he would have suggested what should be done.On the other hand, Modi has made it transparent what sort of humble beginnings he came from by putting the nation first and met Manmohan Singh. Beyond petty politics, it is really glad that he went ahead and met Mr. Singh. Every human has a continuous learning curve. Pappu, why don't we talk about your "learning experiences" from Harvard University? :)Coming to Manmohan Singh, everyone agrees that he is honest, but he failed to control corruption created by big sharks of Congress. He remains silent throughout his tenure. At least Manmohan Singh now found someone who would listen to him and worth to share his knowledge. Also the meeting between Manmohan Singh Narendra Modi is said to be confidential. But rumors are said that Mr. Manmohan has discussed about Coal Mines and 2G scam with Modi and requested him not to put in jail. Before the meeting, Mr. Manmohan confessed that he didn’t do anything for his own family. Then for whose family, he did it?So Pappu, please go and watch Chota Bheem on TV and if you don't know how to operate TV remote, ask your mother. After all, she is expert in controlling people with her remote. Poor Pappu doesn't even realize that more than 90% of the people are rolling on the floor and laughing at you and your dumb sister as you both are providing the much needed comic entertainment. If Pappu gets this much frustration in one year, what is the position after four years? - Manohar
