Revanth Reddy Rumoured To Quit TDP; Joins BJP Soon

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) working president and firebrand leader Revanth Reddy is rumored to quit TDP, and is gearing up to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) soon.

If rumors are true, this could be a major shock awaiting TDP in Telangana State.

It is buzzed that, Revanth had already sent tentative proposals to the BJP, and the BJP is apparently keen on roping in Revanth, to strengthen the party in Telangana.

BJP National President, Amit Shah, who is set to visit Hyderabad, on April 7, is expected to have a meeting privately with Revanth. And once the terms are finalized, Revanth is likely to join BJP in the presence of Amit Shah, during his three-day visit, to Telangana in May.

Several other Congress and TDP leaders would also join BJP, during Amit Shah’s visit in May, rumors say.

However, Revanth had, several times, condemned that, he would not quit TDP that gave him a life. Now, it needs to be seen what his decision would be. And if at all, Revanth quits TDP, it will be a death blow to the TDP in Telangana, which had once ruled the State and had a strong foothold in the region.

The TDP, from the grassroots, had been strong in Telangana and it had a strong cadre and leadership network at various levels in the region. But, after Telangana State was formed, and Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) storming to the power, TDP slowly lost its cadre and leadership to TRS. The TRS had carefully conducted “Operation Akarsh.”

“Operation Akarsh”, is a mantra invoked by the late YS Rajasekhara Reddy to lure elected representatives of the TDP and the TRS into the Congress, when he became the Chief Minister and which was later implemented by Chandrababu Naidu.

However, it is all rumors for now. We all need to see whether Revanth would move to BJP or not. But politically, it would be a wise move, considering that BJP would have hopes to shine in Telangana region.
