The CPM will stage protests in all mandals in Chittoor on Friday. The party is protesting against the rising prices.

Speaking to media here on Thursday, CPM central secretariat member V Srinivasa Rao said that “the party took up a nationwide week-long protest programme from July 11 to 17 against the NDA government for its failure to rein in the rising prices which are hitting hard common man. As part of the stir, protests will be organised in all mandals in AP including Chittoor district on Friday to press the Centre to take up concrete steps to bring down the soaring prices of essential commodities and vegetables.”

The CPM leader said “Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually cheated the people by not fulfilling his party election promises including bringing down the prices, unearth black money and also creating lakhs of new jobs for unemployed youth, if BJP voted to power. But, none of them were done, he said and slamming the Modi government for its apathy in controlling prices affecting everyone.”

Giving the details of the prices of pulses, he said: "they increased three times in just two years making the life of common man miserable while the recent hike in vegetable prices adding more their woes.”

Srinivasa Rao also accused Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. He said that “the Chief Minister is not lagging behind Narendra Modi in letting down the people. He promised to generate employment for jobs to every unemployed youth in the State but did nothing so far. Even the number of government employees which was 6.18 lakh in 2014 came down to 4.88 lakh.”

CPM district secretary K Kumar Reddy said that “the party took the week-long programme in the State demanding that the government take up recruitment to fill all the vacant posts including in TTD, reservation in private sector, unemployment allowance to unemployed and controlling prices.”
