Telangana agriculture minister Pocharam Srinivasa Reddy was gheraoed by veterinary medicine students at Prof. Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University at Rajendra Nagar, Hyderabad today.

It is known that recently, Telangana government has released GO 45, to recruit veterinary doctors through the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC).

Protesting against it, the students demanded to make the recruitment through an exclusive departmental exam, as the TSPSC process takes a lot of time, to complete the appointments.

The students raised a demand to withdraw the GO and were on a strike for the last four days, for it.

The issue immediately went viral, when the students gathered to gherao Pocharam, who was attending the valedictory of a two-day workshop on the  agriculture.  

Reportedly, the minister said that, he is helpless in this issue, as the GO was issued after a decision in the cabinet.

Knowing about the issue, police gathered at the spot in the large numbers and are trying to rescue the minister from the campus. In the beginning, the police felt that the normalcy would be restored soon, but the students got agitated further and locked the minister in a room.

Not stopping there, the students further warned the government to conduct an agitation state wide, if their problems are not addressed. Police currently took the university under their control and trying to convince the students.
