MP Assembly censures Asaduddin Owaisi

The Madhya Pradesh Assembly yesterday, unanimously adopted a censure motion, moved by a Congress member and backed by the ruling BJP, slamming AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi for refusing to chant ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai.’

During the zero hour, Congress MLA Jitu Patwari brought the motion and condemned Owaisi’s stand, saying, “his party is against fundamentalist ideologies of all hues.”

Later, State Legislative Affairs Minister, Narottam Mishra took against Owaisi saying, such type of anti-national mentality is being noticed since last one and an half year.

The Congress legislator said his party is against all sorts of fundamentalist outlook - be it of Hindu, Muslim, Christian and any other religion.

Mishra further said that, India loved both “Ram and Rahim” equally and blasted people sympathizing with divisive forces.

Not stopping there, Mishra even hit out on JNU issue, saying, the anti national acts at the university campus, should be condemned, along with Owaisi.

Even Panchayat Minister Gopal Bhargava joined the queue of people condemning Owaisi and tried to take a dig at the Congress.

But Speaker Sitasaran Sharma, sensing a tussle between the treasury and the opposition benches, got up and said the motion censuring AIMIM leader had been passed unanimously, amid chants of ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ by members including Congress’ Mr. Patwari and Hardeep Singh Dang.

Earlier this week, Owaisi denied to chant ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai,’ when RSS chief Mohan Bhagawat suggested him to chant it, to teach the new generation about the slogans, hailing mother India.

AIMIM MLA Waris Pathan was suspended by Maharashtra Assembly later, when he tried to back Owaisi.
