Singapore former Prime Minister  Goh Chok Tong along with a group of ministers met Union Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu yesterday and proposed G-G [Government to Government] formula for the development of new Andhra Pradesh capital. The delegation of Singapore led by Tong showed interest in being partner in converting Vijayawada into a smart city.

A bunch of topics such as infrastructure, natural resources, health, transport and other were addressed and discussed during this meeting. The meeting lasted for more than an hour and Venkaiah Naidu said more such discussions are needed to get started with the work. He also opined that Union government, State and Singapore government will have to work together and built an ideal capital which can set an example for the rest of the cities. Venkaiah appreciated Singapore's contribution in developing smart cities in the country.

The Singapore delegation has reportedly has the government the pros and cons for its participation. The delegation also invited Venkaiah Naidu to visit Singapore and witness the development of smart cities with naked eye. The Urban Development minister has replied positively in this regards.
