Cabinet to decide on Special Status to Seemandhra?

The Union Cabinet will be meeting at 9:30 AM at Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's residence to decide on granting special status to Seemandhra region. According to the PTI, Congress President Sonia Gandhi has demanded Special Status to Seemandhra region for five years and Manmohan Singh will take up this issue to the cabinet. Reliable sources say that the demand could get a green signal and the government is hopeful that it would calm down the main opposition Bharatiya Janata Party.

Rajya Sabha will take up the Telangana Bill today and unlike in Lok Sabha a detailed discussion is expected. BJP has been demanding four vital amendments to be made in bill and then only it is ready to support the Telangana bill. These amendments are giving troubles to the government and searching for alternatives to pass the bill anyhow in the Upper House as time is running short of it.
